Welcome To Reiki Sanctuary, The Blog

The Voices of My Soul

I enjoy writing. It relaxes me.
It makes me to take charge to nurture my mind and spirit.
It is far better than the burden of thinking and talking.
Writing is self discovery. Writing is a way towards my self-conviction:
I Become What I Think About. The Me I See, The Me I Will Be.

My writings are my way to communicate with the Universe.
They are my expressions of my inner voice. They are voices of my soul.
Often, they are about little prayers for my development, growth and well being.
Often, they are meant to shape my spirituality. [>> Click To Read More]

The Thailand Story - Part Two

Life's a riddle.  Shine a bright light on your blind spot.

I am startled, but not so much a surprise, at the following events that take place almost everytime I am back from Thailand.  Call it an irony or just pure co-incidental happening but it surely brings about something to think.  Something to ponder about and to create a state of mindfulness.  Of what I have become.  Of what opportunities to come.  How little things, particularly some gadgets in Reiki Sanctuary, can just go bonkus.  How when these things were perfectly fine, and working well, just before my departure?

Just the other day, the Universe showed not one but twice, on her subtle language to jolt my understanding.  To let me to S.I.T. (Sit, Inhale and Think), probably asking me to take notice and to become aware of impending directed conscious energy ahead.  It calls for observation.

I measure life events, every synchronicity of events, to be a purposeful guide to life.  I live, and want to live, my life to be so much in Celestine Prophecy.  In the flow towards revolutionize our wisdom, I must set my sights high, the higher the better.  I must expect the most wonderful things to happen, not in the future but right now.  I need to realize that nothing is too good.  That I must allow absolutely nothing to hamper or hold me up in any way.

Two days after coming back from Thailand, one of our PC had problem.  And, four days after coming back from Thailand, our iMac - which was only five months old, had problem.  Out of the ordinary, these machines acted strangely.  Both were unable to boot up.  Both gave a blank screen with beeping sounds when switched on.  Both had Random-access Memory (RAM) issues.

Random-access Memory, as described in Wiki, is a form of computer data storage.  It takes the form of integrated circuits that allow stored data to be accessed in any order in a constant time, regardless of its physical location and whether it is related to the previous piece of data.  RAM is often associated with volatile types of memory where its stored information is lost if the power is removed.

RAM is considered 'random access' because we can access any memory cell directly if we know the row and column that intersect at that cell.  Basically, it is just like turning on the tap to let the water flow into a bucket.  This bucket needs to have a memory controller to refresh once it is filled.

Perhaps, the lesson here is about letting go.  Perhaps, it is about to embrace what Thailand is all about, the Universal connections thus far for me, and to experience it in a different path of totality.  Perhaps, it is suggesting a new wholeness and entirety of what the windings and turnings in a road that we face each day and that these events cannot be ignored or avoided.  Just as in the case of the RAM, it is probably guiding a conscious energy to flush out the old memories and to take in what is ahead with new perspective.

One's memory can have an impact to one's peace.  A thing is complete when we can let it be.  Disillusionment with ourselves must precede enlightenment.  We just need to learn our lessons quickly and move on.  Peace is said to be found when we stop searching for it.  We cannot stop the circles in the surface of water nor how can we try to wash water.  As long and so long we are to be pre-occupied to find it that we shall fail to live.  We are who we are and I am not you and you are not me.

Perhaps, Reiki Sanctuary has become too much Thai when she is designed not to be.  She has her own flavour, mind, spirit, body and the soul and needs to be mindful of her own consciousness.  It is about living in the right here and now.  It is about appreciating what is around in the present.

I have become rather fixated with shopping in Thailand.  It is about filling up spaces to enhance Reiki Sanctuary that probably she is now choked.  Physical beauty has its limit.  One can just do so much to sustain it and it has to fade away some day, like it or hate it.  I have to just let it pass and build on new inspirations.  Perhaps, her memory storage has enough of enough for the time.

As done in my previous trip, I went on another rampage with shopping this time around again.  I have become very accustomed to JJ Mall shopping complex (after much recce at MBK Center) and, as usual, it is a fun filled day just browsing at Thai handicrafts, arts and paintings, antiques, home decor and more.  Conveniently located just next to the Handicraft section of the big Chatuchak Weekend Market district, the whole area has become one vast place to take pleasure.

JJ Mall Shopping Complex (far left) and the Handicraft Section, Chatuchak Weekend Market (right)

But somehow, shopping this time had its own thread-and-thrum.  There were occasions that I had to think hard.  There were occsaions where the good and the bad, the virtues and the vices had to be addressed.  There was a totality where one cannot just pushed the limits any further.  There was the point, or line, beyond which something else cannot or may not proceed.  The RAM choked and so was, probably, Reiki Sanctuary.

The Shopping:

The Meditation

The Flowers

The REIKI Life-Forces

The Thinking Man and Mother-and-Child

The Dining Table Accessories

The Flying "Huat" Ornaments

The Bamboo Chime

.. and where they are all housed in Reiki Sanctuary:

at the Balcony

at the TV Area, Living Room

at Dining Area, with new carpet laid, Dining Room

at Guest Toilet

Perhaps, just as written by Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh in The Tantra Vision (Volume 1):

Just look next time you are having some trip and riding a problem - just watch.  Just stand aside and look at the problem.  Is it really there?  Or have you created it?

Look deeply into it, and you will suddenly see it is not increasing.  It is decreasing; it is becoming smaller and smaller.

The more you put your energy into observation, the smaller it becomes.  And a moment comes when suddenly it is not there .. you will have a good laugh.

It was good while it lasted, indeed.

[Lookout for the third part soon ... ]

Shopping - Headache No. 1

It was a long day.  Chiauw picked us at about noon.  She had earlier gone to Sungei Kadut to get samples of the wood for the bedrooms.  That saved us a trip - initially, we were supposed to go there with her.

Our first stop was to a sanitary ware shop somewhere in Jalan Besar.  Gosh, I didn't know that Jalan Besar is such an area for all kind of household things.  Chaiuw wanted to show us an alternative of the white ceramic kitchen sink, at a lower price but with a proper (and bigger) basket waste.  Surprisingly, the price is soooo much cheaper than the one we saw last week.  Anyway, more of headache about kitchen sink later.

At the same shop, we took another interest.  We had earlier intended to bring over our existing kitchen hob to Reiki Sanctuary as it still looked new.  Guess, it might now change our mind.

We saw a sleek Rinnai [model RB2CG] glass ceramic kitchen hob and liked it instantly.  The size was just right with two Inner-Flame technology burner.  Ah, hold on to your chair - this hob was not cheap!  It was slightly more than $800!

Chaiuw teased that should we want to have it, we would be her first home client ever to get a kitchen hob more than $400.

The Inner-Flame Burner Technology

What is Inner-Flame Technology?

The purpose of the unusual design is to create a coherent, unified
flame that rises under the center of a pan, then flows outward, bathing
the entire bottom of the pan in flame. This approach heats the pan with
greater uniformity and improves the efficiency of heat transfer from
the flame to pan, which is good for even frying without getting burned
food.

In addition to aiming the ports inward, two other design
factors assist in shaping the flame. One is that the burner sits
slightly below the surface of the cooktop, helping the individual
flames to coalesce toward the center as they rise through a hole in the
cooktop surface.

Secondly, and more importantly, the burner ports are angled slightly on
the horizontal plane. The effect of the flames shooting out an angle is
to create a fiery vortex. The swirling flame is meant to accomplish two
things. One, it assists in driving the flame outward across the bottom
of the pan, helping to evenly bathe the pan bottom with flame. Two, the
vortex creates a pressure drop that assists in drawing air in for
combustion allowing for a strong consistent flame.

Will sleep with the thought whether to go ahead ..

Yay! Shop shop shop

Ah, shopping has no longer become fun! - still, we are excitedly looking forward  to do more of it.  Such a human irony, I guess.  People like to shop and shopping has also become such a therapy to many.

New home owners tend to enjoy retail therapy.  Not to be used in a negative term, it is a period of transition - perhaps, it fills the anxieties and comforts any stress.

We start to realize that with so many choices, it comes with stress too.

Important to Chiauw, she wants us [and all her clients] to be well rounded and well informed.  That, when the renovation is completed, and when we look
back in the future, there will be no regrets.

The one thing that I like about Chiauw is her honesty and integrity in carrying out her professional duty.  She is bringing us to so many shops - not to get us to confirm purchasing of the items, but to get us be aware of the wide range of stuffs available.  We just need to tell her 'ah, this is nice and we want it'.  She will take note of them and will take care, through her contacts, to confirm the purchase later.

So far, all the this is nice and we want it quotations have come back to us.  Still, she often says that she is not satisfied with the quotes and will outsource with few more from  other contacts.

We went to two big floor tiles suppliers - one in Changi South and another at Defu Lane.  We like the tiles from Changi South but they are dearer.  Chaiuw has forewarned us before our trip there.  We almost wanted to make a reservation for a particular tile.

Samples tiles from the shop in Changi South:

The Black tiles are being reserved by someone.

Not sure where we want these tiles to be in Reiki Sanctuary. We felt the black will be for the kitchen flooring but it will be too smooth and, hence, will be slippery.  Definitely, not a good idea as we grow older.

Other choices:

01.  Black wall and grey floor for MBR toilet
02.  Grey floor and white wall for guest toilet

Sample Tiles from Defu Lane:

Combo [choice A] for MBR toilet.
We may choose the black for our Kitchen provided there is a bigger piece.

Combo [Choice B] for MBR Toilet.
Gosh, it was not easy to find a black and white coloured tiles.  We spent more than two hours in each shop just to find the right black and the right white.

And the sourcing for tiles continues ....

The Kitchen Sink

Found this in one of the shop on our way home.  It is a must buy.  Chiauw approved it! and I like it very much!  Haha, looks like this is the only item, confirmed, and purchased.

Hmm, now the colour concept for kitchen - floor and cabinet, needs to change.

It is a big white ceramic bowl of 560mm x 905mm with depth of 255mm.

Yay! The Shopping!

For the second section of our weekly meeting, Chiauw brought us to few shops along Balestier.  Primarily, she wanted us to 'feel' what was available so that she could finalize our home concept.

Our first stop was to three tiles shops.  Surprisingly, we liked nothing!  Actually, Chiauw expected that.  Next, she brought us to two bathroom shops to look into bathroom accessories.

Though it was tiring at the end of the trip, it was a good experience for both of us.  At least, Chiauw understood our taste now and it would make it easier for her to move on to her second task - putting all the small details of ideas into a bigger picture.

There would be more field trips in future.  We needed to see the 'wood' for the bedrooms, lightings, kitchen accessories .. and the list would go on.

When Chiauw was sending us home, which was about 9 pm, she voiced out the purpose of going to those three tiles shops.  She wanted us to feel and see the 'low range' before introducing us a better ones next saturday.  Ah, let's see.
