The Hotels of Bangkok - Part Two

God, I Am Grateful To Live In Your Abundance.

This is the continuation on the hotels that we used to stay in Bangkok.

From here on, our priority has changed compared to the early days of our Bangkok holidays.  Do not get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the Silom, Surawong and Sathorn areas.  In terms of public transport, it is convenient.  There are both the BTS Sky Walk Trains and the underground MRT system.  Metered taxis and the local Tut-Tut taxis are every where in those vicinity and around the clock.

There are lots of local eateries around these areas.  By night time, there is a long stretch of pasar malam (night markets) along Silom and Surawong Roads.  These night markets are a great place to shop for souvenirs, fake brand name items and cheap goods.  Then, there are a lot of pubs and bars and the Bangkok's infamous adult entertainment.

As we get a little more familiar with Bangkok and settling down with the kind of lifestyle that suits us, we move away from the Silom area.  One reason is, we want to be near to 'May Massage'.  Massage is our daily activity when we are in Bangkok.  We are very much familiar with the shop and the masseurs.  Though May Massage may not match the high class ambient of a health spa, we are not complaining.

Citadine Sukhumvit 23

This is the very first hotel we stayed when we changed our Thailand holidays.  Previously where we would spend the whole two weeks of Thailand holidays in Pattaya, this hotel was the chosen one.  The trip to Pattaya was reduced to a week and we spent another week in Bangkok.  It was more a familiar hotel since one of us had stayed here during a job secondment few years back.

Citadine 23 is along a small road in a residential area.  Staffs and service here are always good, though breakfast is nothing fantastic.  Just outside the hotel is a row of massage shops and down the road, about 5 minutes walk, is the infamous Cowboy Town.

Furama Xclusive Asoke

This is the hotel in between May Massage and the intersection of Asoke BTS Sky Walk station and the Sukhumvit underground MRT.  We stayed in this hotel couples of times and each time, we would be given an upgrade to the larger Deluxe Room.  Once, we were given the Premier Room.

The area in Asoke is completely different from Silom.  Here, in this area, is more 'thai' and not so touristry.  Shopping, supermarkets and eateries are conveniently located.

Of all the many hotels that we had stayed, we are familiar with the hotel staffs here.  They are very friendly and service is excellent.

Grande Centre Point Terminal 21

Probably this will be the hotel that we will stay more often.  It is a large property with many rooms, newly opened in 2012 and it only makes sense that everything about it is good.  Must say that the hotel is modern and sophisticated. Terminal 21 is definitely very convenient with Asoke Sky Walk Train Station and the underground Sukhumvit MRT just outside the hotel.  Connecting the hotel is the new shopping centre, eateries and supermarket.  There is a nearby night market that stretches all the way to Nana Sky Walk Train Station.

The spacious rooms are designed with extra high ceiling with wide panoramic glass windows for a good scenic view of the city.  I enjoy their world class complex facilities with big swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi.

Staffs and the services here are generally good for a large property that have to cater to the large group of guests.
