Reflecting on an intimate understanding of individual suffering.
This writing is dedicated to a dear friend, an indigo child, JH. A person, in my opinion, who has so much love without realizing it much. An individual that is seemingly peaceful. JH is a warmhearted friend, a loving son and an affectionate soul. The content of this writing is not about his shortfall (in the first place, I cannot even find anything negative about this special earthly angel) but more a reflection of his spiritually nurturing love. Thank You for the life lesson that you bring forth. May your life forward, JH be forever blessed.

Often, when we think of love, the first thing that pops in our mind is struggle. One may further add the helpless feeling of hurt and illusion. As long as life goes on and we continue to live, Love to many could be like a bird often with a fractured wing. That, one can only have love after going through a series of ups and downs. That, one can only own love after going through rituals and acquiring its arts. Rarely we will think that love is the vehicle of growth.
Instead, predominantly, we associate with the agony of love first. We direct our focus on the cruelty of love and its pains. Many top billboard songs are about it. Many of us would think about some failure by the other person. Love fails at meeting our expectations as a lover, husband or wife, mother or father, brother or sister, neighbour or friend. This failure feels to us like an injury. They have taken from us. Abused us. Offended us. Disrespected us. In some way, hurt us. All that we constantly do is to teach our soul to take comfort and to hang on to hope.
Somehow, we feel that we need to learn how to embody love as though there is a written code for it to work, for it to last and not mentioning how to get it started. We keep believing that love hurts so often that it is never easy just to be with it. We believe that love hurts so much that it leaves us in depth of sadness which is larger than the high of happiness it gives us. We feel that love is the energy only deserved for the enlightened that leaves the rest with the need for love to be guided, to be led and to be shown. Love, as we negatively perceive, does not seem to resonate well with our desires.
The more we understand that this is the way the process works; the easier it becomes to not judge and shame ourselves; the more capacity we have to Love and nurture ourselves. Life is constantly changing. There are always going to be endings and new beginnings. There is always going to be grief and pain and anger about what we have to let go of, and fear of what is to come. It is not because we are bad or wrong or shameful. It is just the way the Love teaches us.
I like it when I read this quote:
"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends."
Basically, love in its true emotion does not (and should not) keep any records. Love does not count up the wrongs that have been done to us. Love does not keep record of when it has been wronged. Love does not keep score of the sins of others.
Love is just an emotion, a positive encouraging energy. It is what we do to it that makes the difference in the way it manifests. Give a little love and it all comes back to you. Take a little love and pass it on, and before we know it,the world will start to show it. Every action we make creates an energy.
In Enya's song "Amarantine", Love is wonderfully described to be:
You know when you give your love away,
it opens you heart, everything is new
And you know time will always find a way
to let your heart believe it's true
You know love is everything you say;
a whisper, a word, promises you give
You feel it in the heartbeat of the day
You know this is the way love is
You know love may sometimes make you cry
so let the tears go
for they flow away
for you know love will always let you fly
how far a heart can fly away
You know when love is shining in your eyes
it may be the stars fallen from above
And you know love is with you when you rise
for night and day belong to love
Love is an emotional state whose reality cannot be expressed in words. Love is an essential part of faith. Love is the most precious of human experiences. I strongly believe that all humans striving is rooted in love. We do things out of love for something, whether it is sacrificial or self interested.
Love is the greatest power in the world of existence and the true source of eternal happiness. Question is, if Love is the greatest power, why does it make those in love powerless?
Love is such a gentle energy that it seems (as in our perception) to be lacking in strength and vulnerable. But for those who understand Love to find it rejuvenate. Love is an active verb about acceptance to all that is, has been, will be and will not be. Love is about accepting everything completely. That one can accept the thoughts, the feelings, the motives and the reactions.
The hardest part of acceptance is not the difficulty of allowing others their process, it is allowing ourselves our own process without shame and judgement. I always believe that when we love someone, it is about a creation of self awareness raising our human consciousness. It is the beginning towards self acceptance. It is about the realization that we, as Human, now have tools, knowledge and access to healing energy and spiritual guidance that has never before been available.
The love that we give to another person is the yardstick of our state of Being. It is very difficult to know ourselves unless we have looked at our face in the eyes of someone we love. Just as we have to look into the mirror to see our physical face, we have to look in the mirror of love to see our Being.
Love is a mirror for the measurement of respect, admiration and communication. The mirror is where we will get to know the person we truly are. Whether we are selfless or selfish; judgemental or sympathetic; sufficient or deficient. We have to go into love in order to come to ourselves. When done with the Law of Surrender, we become the Be-ing that we are supposed to be.
To become a better person, the first and certainly the most nurturing thing we do is to start seeing love in a growth context. That Love is about realizing life events are lessons and opportunities for growth and not punishment. It is a growth that occurs as a result of one's awareness and the acceptance the life we are meant to live. Love is a privilege and a responsibility to promote our spiritual life and spiritual advancement. Love is the movement of the light out of our Be-ing.
Love makes us real otherwise we remain just a fantasy, a dream, with no substance in it. Love give us substance. Love gives us integrity. Love makes us centered. But it is only half of the journey; the other half has to be in awareness. Love is the beginning half and awareness is the ending half. Between these two, we attain to God. We just need to go through love, with all its pains. Yes, it can hurt but if we are in love, it does not matter.
The principle of love works together with the law of happiness. Only when we are able to integrate these that we can escape suffering. The principle of love teaches us to stop taking love from others and instead live by giving love. Humans, generally, have a preconceived idea that love is something we receive from others - that we feel happy when we are loved and unhappy when we do not feel loved.
Love that gives is the kind of love that constantly gives for no return and expects no reward. It is an eternal happiness as it is not conditioned on the love that we receive from others. Love that gives allows us to recognize the value of what we have already been given and feel grateful for it.
Love is love. Love should be a quality in us that wherever we are, with whomsoever we are, or even if we are alone, love goes on overflowing from us. Our goal in life is to progress through love where the very existence of our soul is a blessing to all humankind. We have been asked, through our birth, never to miss any opportunity of living, of being alive, of being responsible, of being committed, of getting involved. Life is not a question of being in love with someone but it is a question of being with love.
Osho, an Indian spiritual teacher, said "Life is nothing but an opportunity for love to blossom. If you are alive, the opportunity is there -- even to the last breath. You may have missed your whole life: just the last breath, the last moment on the earth, if you can be love, you have not missed anything -- because a single moment of love is equal to the whole eternity of love."
