For the past few weeks, I have been hearing stories of how certain objects - fridge, washing machine, kitchen cabinet etc, start to break down and in particular, it happens when my friends are moving out to a new place.
Somehow, these objects possess, in some degree, the attributes of reason, speech and soul just as any human is capable of feeling. It is the speech of the non-human.
One might take it as a coincident - that, these objects are old enough and it will naturally break down. The mechanism has come to the end of its life span. But, have we wondered why it is happening at a certain time?
More than often, I always tend to hear - and experience, that these objects always 'choose' to break down when we have plans to replace them.
Yesterday, my sellers were sharing with us that their fridge and washing machine suddenly broke down one after the other, about a week ago. I casually teased them that those objects knew that they would be getting a lump sum of profit from selling the house and needed to be replaced.
Another friend, who will also be moving out to a new place, has her water pipe leaked badly. And her built-in kitchen cabinet just caved in [kind of slanted at an angle] for no reason.
Today, a neighbour tells me her washing machine breaks down too.
As for us, one of our aircon unit leaked about a month ago. We have a regular quarterly servicing and the problem shouldn't exist. Infact, it has never happened before.
How do we explain these break down? Coincidental timing just because we planned to replace them?
I have always believe that these non-living things have souls of their own. That when we bought and brought them into our house and served us unconditionally, they have become a part of us. The break down is their non-human language arises from sympathetic identification and imitated for kindness and gratitude.
Our house is basically crying for the lost human souls that will leave them behind. Perhaps, it is their language to bid us well as we move on.
